Reitmans Selects QuantiSense Business Intelligence for Bringing Strategic Insight to its Store Operations

Atlanta, GA — January 8, 2008 — QuantiSense today announced that Reitmans, Canada's largest women's specialty retailer, has selected the QuantiSense retail business intelligence application for use across all seven of its divisions including Reitmans, Smart-Set, RW & Co., Penningtons, Thyme Maternity, Addition-Elle and Cassis.

Reitmans, well known for its innovation in information technology, sought to benefit from centralizing the data spread across its numerous operational systems to gain a complete view of the enterprise. The retailer required a solution that would enable both corporate analysts and store operations personnel to quickly access the data needed to support their business decisions.

The QuantiSense application will source operational data from Reitmans' current Oracle Retail and NSB systems, and unify the data in QuantiSense's retail data warehouse running atop an Oracle database. QuantiSense's 100-day implementation, focused on store operations, will include analytics in the areas of:

  • Store traffic and conversion
  • Labor and real estate productivity
  • Sales and inventory performance at the enterprise, chain, district and store level

Reitmans will benefit from new business insights via QuantiSense's visualization layer designed exclusively for retailers. QuantiSense will give the retailer a powerful start in business intelligence for store operations, with its packaged application featuring a roles-based approach. The application consists of personalized dashboards, exception reporting to pinpoint problems and opportunities, and QuantiSense Playbooks™, which capture retail best practices and guide users to take immediate action to improve their business.

"We are impressed with QuantiSense's offering for the specialty apparel space," said Diane Randolph, VP of Information Systems for Reitmans. "QuantiSense dashboards provide a focused view of the most relevant data for each user. Our District Managers and corporate Store Analysts can take action based on the data to make better and more informed business decisions. QuantiSense's Playbooks are instrumental to our goal of bringing store operations to a new level of efficiency."

Doug Deruchie, CFO of Reitmans, added, "QuantiSense addresses our near-term store operations challenges, and serves as a strategic platform for future growth."

QuantiSense will enable Reitmans' business users to:

  • Evaluate the assortment, pricing profile, markdown mix, and merchandise performance of each store
  • Grade similar stores within districts and chain-wide, so store managers and analysts can measure performance against best and average stores
  • Take action to increase sales per square foot, sales per employee hour, and store traffic.

Additionally, QuantiSense will enable Reitmans' Information Technology team to:

  • Adopt standardized reporting styles and metrics across divisions so that "big picture" data is more easily compiled and analyzed
  • Replace labor-intensive spreadsheet-based reports with richer, comprehensive reports produced on-demand
  • Produce exception reports that highlight problems and opportunities, and guide users towards the lowest level of actionable detail

"We are pleased to welcome Reitmans to our growing customer base of retail leaders. Reitmans is a savvy retailer who can leverage all the benefits our retail business intelligence solution offers," said Jeff Buck, CEO, QuantiSense. "We are confident QuantiSense will give Reitmans the powerful start they need in BI for Store Operations to recognize a high return on their current and future IT investments."
