Pacific Sunwear Selects QuantiSense for Retail Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing

NRF 96th Annual Convention and EXPO, New York, NY — January 15, 2007 — QuantiSense today announced that Pacific Sunwear, a leading specialty retailer of apparel, accessories, and footwear, has selected QuantiSense as its retail business intelligence and data warehousing application.

QuantiSense will enable Pacific Sunwear's retail professionals to "work as they think." QuantiSense highlights key retail exceptions and opportunities and lets business users perform interactive analysis to gain retail insights.

"Traditional project-based approaches to data warehousing can be too lengthy, costly, and risky. QuantiSense's packaged application speaks retail BI right out of the box. Our users can benefit immediately, and IT can focus on adding business value to the application as our needs evolve. We will be running QuantiSense's solution on Netezza's powerful data warehouse appliance, to give us real-time insight into our data," said Ron Ehlers, Vice President of Information Services at Pacific Sunwear.

He added, "As we upgrade our back-end systems, QuantiSense's application will retain our historical data so we will have continuity of analysis, and intelligence about our past performance that will give us a competitive edge in the future."

"Our executive team needs to make decisions based on key performance indicators specific to our business," said Wendy Burden, Chief Operating Officer at Pacific Sunwear. She added, "QuantiSense will enable us with a high-level view of our operations, and helps us turn insights into actions."

Netezza, the global data warehouse appliance leader, will provide Pacific Sunwear with a data warehouse that is blindingly fast, simple to install, deploy and maintain, and has a low total cost of ownership. Netezza and QuantiSense together offer retailers like Pacific Sunwear a complete business intelligence appliance.

Following its standard implementation methodology, QuantiSense will deliver its application in less than 100 days including:

  • A best-practices retail data model, leveraging the Netezza Performance Server® data warehouse appliance and designed for high-performance, train-of-thought interactive analysis
  • Data extraction, transformation, and loading of transactional retail data from AS/400-based Island Pacific Merchandising and Manhattan Associates WM systems, as well as a legacy NSB Merchandise Planning & Allocation installation
  • The QuantiSense Retail Learning Infrastructure™ for highlighting exceptions and business opportunities
  • Role-based dashboards and interactive reports for Executive Analysis, Merchandising, Finance, Store Operations and Marketing
  • Playbooks™ for using best practices to turn insights into action

Pacific Sunwear's executive team deeply understands the value of arming its team with leading business intelligence capabilities and a centralized retail data warehouse," said QuantiSense CEO Jeff Buck. "We are looking forward to exceeding Pacific Sunwear's expectations for years to come."
