Casual Male Rapidly Adds BI Solution
By adding a new business-intelligence
(BI) solution and data warehouse,
Casual Male Retail Group, Canton, Mass.,
is reporting more accurate performance
evaluations, more detailed SKU-level
analysis, and increased employee productivity.
Analyzing customers’ physical characteristics and preferences allows Casual Male to feature an assortment that is three or four times bigger than most chains carry, Dennis Hernreich, the chain’s COO, CFO and executive VP, recently told Chain Store Age.
When the chain began evaluating BI options in early 2007, it wanted software that would help it analyze granular details, and seamlessly integrate with its existing IT infrastructure. By adding a BI and data-warehouse solution from QuantiSense, Atlanta, the chain increased operational efficiency through deeper analytics.
The solution sources merchandising, sales and inventory information from the company’s retail ERP system, as well as other data sources within the enterprise. This data is centrally stored in the QuantiSense data warehouse. The BI solution, which consists of personalized dashboards and exception reporting tools, delivers information that enables users to make decisions that improve their business.
Casual Male implemented the solution in the fall, and by December, Casual Male was using the solution to track existing and potential stockouts and overstocks. The chain also began creating reports that ranged from a granular level to a summary level.
“QuantiSense delivered on our expectations—and more—within 100 days. The software intuitively drives our users toward intelligent action,” said Hernreich. “The solution’s flexibility and performance have allowed us to analyze and improve the key elements of our business that really make a difference to our customers.”
Jack McKinney, CIO, Casual Male, added, “The application enables Casual Male to fully leverage all of our IT systems, glean valuable insights from data and help our retail professionals make better, more informed decisions.”
